Exeter Chiefs' dreams of winning promotion to the Guinness
Premiership received a massive boost in a dramatic weekend in the
National League One title race.
While the Chiefs were confirming Manchester's relegation with a
comfortable home win, leaders Leeds Carnegie were suffering their
first defeat of the season, 27-12 away to Yorkshire rivals Doncaster
Knights.
Exeter now trail Leeds by eight points, with a game in hand, and
next weekend's fixtures become absolutely crucial to the final
outcome.
Leeds face another very difficult match at third-placed Bedford
Blues on Saturday, but Exeter have their own mountain to climb the
following day when they visit fifth-spot Nottingham.
