Article: Man collecting bottles and cans in South San Francisco held up at gunpoint

A man collecting recyclables was held up at gunpoint Sunday night in South San Francisco, although the four men who attempted to rob him fled the scene without any money or property, police reported.

"I have no idea why they were robbing this guy," said South San Francisco police Sgt. Joni Lee. "If you're taking recyclables that obviously means you don't have a lot of money."

The victim told police he was approached by a group of four men at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of First Lane. He said the men asked him for money and that one of them aimed a handgun at him during the exchange.
