Article: Guinness, a long story

Say what you will about Guinness drinkers, but they are not impatient.

They can't afford to be.

The famed stout, celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, isn't a quick pour. Guinness drafts are dispensed via a tap system that utilizes a mixture of carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Anyone in a hurry for a drink -- especially with St. Patrick's Day looming -- had best order another beverage.

"Most of the time, (Guinness drinkers) understand," says Ann Burns, who tends bar at Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle in the Strip District.
