A local automobile dealer has offered what he calls a "bailout"
to anyone who owns an automobile manufactured by GM, Ford or
Chrysler. What a benevolent gesture.
First there was an advertisement in local newspapers and then a
direct mailer to individual homes in which owners of a domestic-
brand automobile are warned they should unload their worthless
vehicle immediately. The mailer we received shows the logos of
several American-made automobiles and the message, "When and if
these brands file for bankruptcy the value of your vehicle will
drastically drop. Now is the time to limit your exposure."
As one who prefers a domestic brand, I am offended by this
arrogance and remain hopeful that ...
