Jeff Wagner's first colonoscopy at age 48 showed several benign tumors, called polyps, and a larger, precancerous tumor.

The doctor removed them, but when a follow-up colonoscopy showed more polyps, Wagner knew he couldn't just wait for them to reappear year after year.

"I wanted to be proactive," said Wagner, 51, of McCandless. "I didn't want to go through this every couple of years, not knowing."
