Predicting Vanderburgh County will get more federal money over
the next two years than ever before, the County Commissioners
Thursday unveiled $5.1 million in 2010 federal earmark requests.
County officials hope to reap millions in federal dollars this
year and in 2010 through a combination of earmarks and money for
local projects that may be awarded from the $787 billion economic
stimulus bill.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives approved 2009 earmark
money for several local projects, including $760,000 to help build
University Parkway between
Marx Road and Diamond Avenue. The Senate also must approve the
money. If that happens within a week, as Rep. Brad Ellsworth's
