Fans of Penn Brewery's beers breathed a sigh of relief earlier
this month, when it was revealed -- after long and troubled
negotiations -- that the microbrewery pioneer would be staying put
on the North Side. Penn Brewery's home will remain at the iconic
Eberhardt and Ober brewery, home to beer-making since 1848. But its
image is leaving Penn Brewery's label, replaced by a new design by
Pittsburgh's Smith Brothers Agency.
The new theme of the bottle labels is the "Great American
Worker." Penn Pilsner sports an old-timey bartender pouring a cold
one. Penn Gold features a flannel-clad prospector, panning for gold
in the river. Penn Dark features a blacksmith, and Penn Weizen a
smiling female ...
