SET in the mountains of Connemara, Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane is the story of a put-upon woman at the end of her tether.

The play, which is being presented by Alsager Community Theatre next week, is a dark comedy that grows darker and darker.

Chris Lockett plays 40-year-old Maureen, a plain and lonely woman in her early forties, who lives with her possessive and manipulative mother Mag (Maree Thorpe).
