Bats: right Throws: right
Notable: Laroche was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers this
past July as part of the three-way trade that sent Jason Bay to the
Red Sox and Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers. LaRoche - who was
considered the Dodgers' second-best prospect - started 45 of the
final 54 games at third base for the Pirates and batted .152 with 12
RBI. LaRoche - the younger brother of Pirates first baseman Adam
LaRoche - attended Grayson County (TX) Community College before
being signing with the Dodgers. Andy and Adam are the first pair of
brothers to play together for the Pirates since Eddie and Johnny
O'Brien in 1958.
