Article: State auditor Wagner will try to thwart sale of State Office Building

State Auditor General Jack Wagner vowed Wednesday to conduct a special investigation to try to prevent the State Office Building from being sold at a "fire sale" price to a developer -- but he couldn't say for certain how or whether the deal could be stopped.

James P. Creedon, secretary of the state's Department of General Services, responded yesterday that the auditor general's investigators are welcome to see any sale or lease contracts, cost estimates or other documents related to the plan to sell the Gateway Center building for $4.61 million to Millcraft Industries Inc. and move 800 workers to leased space at three other Downtown buildings.
