HK's new mortgage loans rise 15.7 pct in February

HONG KONG, March 25 (Xinhua) -- New mortgage loans drawn down during February rose 15.7 percent, to 7.1 billion HK dollars (916. 7 million U.S. dollars), compared with January, the Monetary Authority of Hong Kong announced on Wednesday.

New loans approved in the month rose 1.5 percent to 11.4 billion HK dollars. The increase was due to increases of 200 million HK dollars, or 2.8 percent up in approvals for secondary- market transactions and of 200 million HK dollars, or 23.5 percent up for refinancing loans.
