A controversial pole- dancing club has shut - less than six months after opening.

Sirens, on the Barbican, has seen its last 'spider pose' and 'extended butterfly' and has had all but one of its poles ripped out.

It is now undergoing an extensive revamp and will reopen with the same management, but under its old name of the Quay.

One pole has been retained, but it will be for punters at the newly- branded 'upmarket' club to frolic around, rather than for use as adult entertainment.

Management at the venue, on the Parade, said the transformation had come about because many people yearned for a return to the former Quay Club atmosphere.

It had been decided to re-brand and reopen on the weekend ...
