A Cleethorpes MP has helped push through an amendment to the law
which will make blind people pounds1,500 a year better off.
A change to the Welfare Reform Bill will mean people with severe
visual impairment will be able to claim a higher rate of Disability
Living Allowance.
That will mean an extra pounds29 per week.
Shona McIsaac MP, who supports the work of the RNIB, Guide Dogs
and local charity Foresight, said: "This is wonderful news for
thousands of blind people across the country, who, from 2011, will
get essential extra money to help them to travel, access job
opportunities, leisure and culture venues and visit friends and
family.
