Although it lost no seniors to graduation and the incumbent
starter returns, the position competition everyone will watch during
Marshall's spring football drills is quarterback.
Sophomore Mark Cann is back after he started all but one game
last season, which was a rollercoaster ride for the rookie who
alternated between good and bad stretches. He completed 154-of-307
passes for 1,767 yards with 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Junior Brian Anderson replaced the injured Cann in the regular-
season finale, a 38-35 loss to West Division champion Tulsa, and
excelled.
Anderson threw for 177 yards with three touchdowns and no
interceptions on 14-of-19 passing against the Golden Hurricane. He ...
