1st LD Writethru: Tokyo stocks extend losing streak

TOKYO, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended their losses to a third straight trading day on Tuesday.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 126.55 points, or 1.54 percent, from Monday to 8,109.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 15.88 points, or 2.01 percent, to 773.66.

Trading volume on the main section came to 2,318.65 million shares, up from Monday's 2,191.06 million.
