HUNTINGTON Marshall receivers coach Todd Goebbel and the
football players he instructs are putting their own spin on an
English proverb. The original version is, The early bird catches the
worm. Their version is, The early receiver catches the football. So
it was Tuesday afternoon, when Marshall began spring practice at
Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The Thundering Herd was scheduled to begin
its first session at 3:30, but 10 Marshall receivers were on the
field at 2:30 working with Goebbel and NFL hopeful Darius Passmore.
That group included junior college transfer Wayne Bonner, who didnt
practice because he had an afternoon class but was there to learn as
much as he could during the receivers ...
