Article: DBS debacle stuns Scots finance

SCOTTISH business leaders were last night reeling from the addition of Dunfermline Building Society to the long list of Scottish finance's abysmal year of woes. While not of the same magnitude as the demise of HBOS or RBS, the Fife-based society has played a significant part in Scotland's financial and civic life as the country's largest building society.

David Lonsdale, deputy director of CBI Scotland, said: "It's a bit of a shock and we are looking for clarity for the sake of depositors and for the staff. Obviously this is another severe knock to Scottish financial services but, at the end of the day, the sector will have to pick itself up and move ahead."
