Article: New York Court of Appeals ruling moors 2009 regatta

The race is off - at least that of the previously planned, $2 billion multi-boat America's Cup sailing regatta originally scheduled for this summer in Valencia, Spain. That race sank Thursday with a Court of Appeals' decision that strictly construed the provisions of the trust governing the event.

"What's good about the decision is that it finally ... gets back to sailors competing for the America's Cup on the water," said Hank Stuart, a member of the Rochester Yacht Club, the New York Yacht Club and the St. Francis Yacht Club, who sailed in three America's Cup races.
