Article: Harmon's passion was there from an early age

Jillian Harmon didn't go for the dolls and Ninja turtle toys her parents offered her as a baby. She preferred a tattered basketball that rolled out of the closet one day in their New York City condo.

When old enough to take walks with her parents along the Hudson River, Harmon brought the ball with her as if it were a safety blanket.

"Jillian was infatuated with it," her father, Randy Harmon, said this week.
