A community debate over a proposed Glen Arm creamery erupted in a
chorus of cheers and jeers Monday night during a raucous public
hearing before the Baltimore County Council.
Most of the 100 or so people in attendance backed zoning law
changes that would specifically allow creameries in a rural
conservation zone. Supporters made their presence known by
applauding people who shared their views and snickering and coughing
when opponents spoke.
Joseph Bartenfelder, the council's chairman, warned the crowd
several times during the 90-minute hearing before threatening to
have everyone removed from the chamber.
