His son emerged from the Russian Soyuz capsule "looking pale, but
really well," said Ed Fincke, a few hours after watching the
spacecraft hit the dirt in a Kazakhstan prairie on NASA TV Wednesday
morning.
Astronaut and Emsworth native Mike Fincke, 42, returned to Earth
at 3:16 a.m. EST after serving as commander of the International
Space Station during the past six months.
"I'm a lot more relaxed now," said Ed Fincke, 66, an engineering
technician for Michael Baker Corp. in Moon. He said the Soyuz
toppled over due to high winds upon landing. "That's the hard part -
- coming down."
