Article: Valley Times April 10 Letters from our readers

Rep. George Miller (Times April 4) contends that the disputed Employee Free Choice Act is good for the economy. He whines that under current law "the company sets pay, approves vacations and promotes or fires workers ... ." Can he really feel it would improve our national competitiveness if workers were in charge of setting their own pay, approving their own vacations and firing themselves? He further proclaims that as things stand now "the company holds the power to intimidate."

Obviously he believes that unions never intimidate -- just management. He brazenly contends that under current law "CEOs can veto majority sign-up." But he cites no reference to back up his claim. Odds are that ...
