Article: Atkins takes on new role in Public Theater's production of 'Misbegotten'

For actor Tom Atkins, his returning to "A Moon for the Misbegotten" is somewhat like stepping into an entirely different play.

Seventeen years ago, Atkins, a former Broadway actor and a Peters Township resident, played James Tyrone Jr., the young, eligible landowner in the Pittsburgh Public Theater's first production of the play.

Tonight, Atkins begins previews in his second production of Eugene O'Neill's classic drama. This time, he's playing the conniving tenant farmer Phil Hogan, who hopes to save his farm by luring Tyrone, who owns the land, into a marriage with his daughter, Josie Hogan.
