Construction contracts issued in March by the Pittsburgh Bureau
of Building Inspection reached $30.76 million, less than half the
$73.15 million for March last year. Contracts valued at $66.8
million were issued in the first quarter this year compared to
$260.15 million in 2008. The major contract in March was $14 million
for a six-story, 112-room hotel with 989 parking spaces at 6425 Penn
Ave., Bakery Square, in the Larimer-East Liberty area.
The board of the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County has
approved the authority's selection by the Department of Defense as
the lead implementation agent of the reuse plan for the Charles E.
Kelly Support Center in Oakdale and a satellite site ...
