The Yankees had a wind study commissioned before construction of
the new Yankee Stadium, general manager Brian Cashman said Monday.
But he said there was nothing in the study that indicated the ball
might fly out to right field the way it has.
Twenty home runs were hit in the first four games alone as New
York and Cleveland split the opening series that ended Sunday,
easily the high for the first four games at a major league park,
according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The A's and their opponents
totaled 16 when Oakland started the 1996 season at Cashman Field in
Las Vegas.
