Anglers who launch boats at Lake Fork Reservoir in Texas appear
to have one thing in mind. They want to catch a big bass, a really
big bass.
That's the conclusion drawn from visiting the restaurant near the
boat ramp. Mountings of huge bass caught at Lake Fork decorate the
walls of the establishment.
Lake Fork, a 27,690-acre reservoir operated by the Sabine River
Authority, attained its pool level in 1985. Since then, it has
become an attractive destination for thousands of bass fishermen. It
is easy to see why. Vast areas of standing timber beckon those who
fish for bass, crappies and other fresh-water species. Every
