Article: Sir Trevor brooking drops in to open two city football pitches

Former England footballer Sir Trevor Brooking saw for himself how talent is being developed at grass roots level.

Sir Trevor visited two city schools to officially open their pounds1m artificial turf pitches yesterday.

The pitches and changing rooms at both Derby Moor Community Sports College and Lees Brook Community Sports College are used by 1,100 pupils every week and also by 1,400 members of the community.

First stop for Sir Trevor, who is the Football Association's director of football development, was Derby Moor, in Littleover.

Having the pitch has meant schemes such as Kickz - a national football programme for young people - have been set up.
