Lilly Abreu always is busy.
She also is excellent at returning calls, and that is great,
because it is tough to keep up with her. Besides being a fine jazz
singer, she sings in operas and other classical settings, such as in
a recent performance of "La Boheme" by the Pittsburgh Opera.
Abreu, 47, teaches voice to non-music majors at Chatham
University in Shadyside and Carnegie Mellon University in Oakland as
well as Portuguese at the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland. Plus,
she teaches the language to professionals who need it.
Although she seems Brazilian as a rain forest, she has been a
U.S. citizen since being born in this country while her father was
