Article: San Leandro may take 'semi-roundabout' approach to traffic woes

SAN LEANDRO -- A four-way intersection on San Leandro's northern border with Oakland provides plenty of traffic headaches, city resident Brenda Salgado said.

In fact, there were 16 collisions at the convergence of San Leandro Boulevard at West Broadmoor Boulevard, and Apricot and Park streets -- good for a No. 5 ranking among 12 locations examined in a 2004 city study of intersections with high collision rates.

That's why traffic safety is among the top concerns for Salgado and residents in the 600 homes known as the Farrelly Pond neighborhood of north San Leandro.
