Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Co., a New Jersey foundry, was
fined $8 million Friday for its conviction on 32 criminal counts,
including conspiring to evade workplace safety and environmental
laws for eight years.
The company, based in Phillipsburg, N.J., was convicted in 2006
by a federal jury in Trenton, N.J. Four managers also found guilty
were sentenced this week to prison terms ranging from 6 months to 70
