In 1776, the U.S. Declaration of Indepen- dence declared that all
men are endowed with certain inalienable rights, "among these are
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Notice the word "life?" How about "inalienable?" Synonyms of
inalienable are unchallengeable, absolute, immutable, not able to be
forfeited, unassailable, incontrovertible, indisputable and
undeniable. Pretty overwhelming, isn't it?
Our forefathers had great wisdom, foresight and understanding
when they carefully wrote the Declaration of Independence. The right
to life certainly ought to be an inalienable right.
