DERRY surrendered their National Football League title at Croke Park yesterday to complete a depressing weekend for Ulster in the divisional finals, all four teams from the province bowing the knee in their respective deciders.

But Oak Leaf boss Damian Cassidy, while disappointed with the outcome of this decidedly flat encounter in a sparsely-populated Headquarters, is unlikely to lose much sleep as a consequence of it.

Even before the match started, Cassidy had again made it clear that he remains acutely aware his own pedigree and that of his team will be measured by what they achieve in the much more demanding Championship environment.
