Greensburg Art Club's home in Hempfield, built in 1883, once was
a tiny, two-room schoolhouse.
After the club purchased the structure in 1955, it was named the
Alex Fletcher Memorial Art Center to honor a club founder.
On April 19, the club played host to a packed house that
celebrated new names on the club's honor roll and an expansion that
adds 200 percent in operating space.
An airy and spacious gallery was named for William B. Rowe Jr., a
businessman and artist who, before his death in 2004, planted seed
money that was grown to make the addition possible.
Funds from the Greensburg Foundation, administered by the
Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, were used to furnish
