Article: Tulsa museum enters space shuttle race

The Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium is competing to acquire a retired space shuttle.

NASA is looking to permanently place all three retiring space shuttles at museums and educational institutions.

The Tulsa museum has applied to NASA to become the home for one of the space shuttles. If acquired by the Tulsa museum, the space shuttle will cost about $42 million.

Jim Bridenstine, executive director of the Tulsa museum, said he believes the Tulsa facility meets NASA's requirements.

"It's a perfect opportunity for us and the amount of exposure it will give to our great city," he said. "We are making every attempt to acquire this space shuttle."
