Article: Bay trading continues to trade in Plymouth despite administration

Plymouth's branch of Bay Trading was today still serving customers despite the high-street clothes chain going into administration.

The shop, in New George Street, reported a busy day even though it had been announced the firm was in the hands of administrators Deloitte and up for sale.

It is the latest Plymouth city-centre fashion outlet to be hit by the recession, following the loss of stores including Surfing Life, Pete's Place and the New George Street Next outlet.

At Plymouth's Bay Trading, which specialises in women's fashions, a member of staff would only say that workers were carrying on as normal and had no idea what lay ahead.

"It's been busy today," she said.
