A proposed mining operation in Dunbar Township elicited a full
day of testimony and public comment Wednesday despite another
attempt by the Mountain Watershed Association to delay the
proceedings.
Five days before the hearing, the Fayette County zoning hearing
board received a letter from the association's attorney asking the
panel to continue the hearing, citing personal reasons and a
schedule conflict.
The board, which denied a similar request from the association to
continue the March 18 public hearing, likewise denied the request
because many who filled the meeting room took a day off from work to
voice their opinions.
