Aerotek settles call center lawsuit

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A lawsuit filed on behalf of more than 1,000 call center workers has ended in a $1.2 million settlement with Hanover, Md.-based Aerotek Inc.

Lawyers on both sides said Wednesday the settlement concludes the dispute that began in December 2006, when the Martinsburg call center shut down. The lawsuit claimed employees were not paid in a timely fashion and were owed some back wages.

Aerotek denies any wrongdoing but says it wanted to close the matter.

Aerotek operated the call center on behalf of Verizon. The center was open for about 10 years. About 228 people were working there when it closed.
