Article: Emissions trading scheme delay now 'inevitable'

New Zealand's emissions trading scheme will "inevitably" be delayed to bring it into line with the Australian scheme, which has been put off for a year, according to experts.

Leading energy and resources lawyer Bryan Gunderson, a Kensington Swan partner, said a delay here was certain now that Australia had delayed its scheme.

"It would be imprudent for the New Zealand Government to introduce an ETS ahead of our major trading partner."
