Efforts to turn the upper floors of the historic Meier & Frank
department store building in downtown Portland into a luxury hotel
captured the highest honor handed out at the Daily Journal of
Commerce's 2009 Top Projects awards event.
Nearly 400 people attended the Thursday event at the Governor
Hotel in order to recognize the most outstanding public and private
buildings, renovation projects, and infrastructure and public works
projects completed last year in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
The Nines hotel, submitted by project general contractor Hoffman
Construction, beat out approximately 85 other projects to win Best
