Big boost for Ciena

Networking specialist Ciena Corp., of Linthicum, announced it is partnering with NYSE Euronext, one of the world's largest exchange groups, to deploy by 2010 the first 100-gigabyte-per-second network. Backed by Ciena's technology, the 100G system will enable NYSE Euronext, operating from data centers in New York and London, to provide both the speed and the agility needed to deliver more than 1 billion transactions -- equities quotes, trades, options data and other financial activities -- daily in the United States, Europe and globally.
