With the end of the season rapidly approaching, the Newton Abbot
club have had early success in both the Torbay League and also the
Devon County Chess Association events.
Having only been reformed in 2005 by the League President, Trevor
Thynne, the club has gone from strength to strength and now boasts
not only some of the strongest players in the county but also some
of the best youngsters as well.
Winning their final game at Totnes by a convincing 4-0 margin,
the Newton team went through the season without losing a match and
were well ahead of the runners up, Torquay, in Division One.
In Division Two, Torquay and Plymouth are fighting it out for the
