Article: Still More Fun With Vanity Plates

In the past when I've written about vanity license plates, a healthy little debate has arisen on the subject during my online chats. The issue has been whether personalized plates are clever, compact examples of sly creativity or whether they are the creations of motorists suffering from borderline personality disorders.

Readers who fall into the latter camp have asked why people would need to see their names or initials on their Camry or Camaro. They have wondered what sort of person seeks validation from a rectangle of metal stamped with some abbreviated version of a job, hobby or personal philosophy.

To which I say: Lighten up! Vanity plates are a little bit of fun, like a fun-size ...
