Maybe we here in Washington take Placido Domingo for granted.

Since the famed tenor began serving as artistic director of Washington National Opera in 1996, Domingo has taken the podium in the orchestra pit far more than he has taken the stage. It's possible to forget that in the Three Tenors' heyday, Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti could sell out sports stadiums. Friday night at Constitution Hall, Domingo finally put on a gala show, "From My Latin Soul," to benefit the WNO, and more than 3,300 people turned out.

"Placido and His Sexy Latina Ladies" could have been the alternate title. Six talented women were scheduled to sing, dance and make music alongside Domingo, but ...
