Hipp is honored
Boxer going into American Indian Hall of Fame

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC
Boxing gave Joe Hipp plenty of opportunities, including a
heavyweight title shot, before he retired six years ago.
Now, the sport has brought the former Yakima boxer one more
reward -- a spot in the Amer-ican Indian Athletic Hall of Fame.
Hipp will be one of three athletes inducted during ceremonies
tonight in Kansas City, Mo.
"I'm very excited," he said. "It's a great honor. Something to
top off my career."
Hipp, who had a career record of 42-6, admits he's a little
surprised about how many people still remember his boxing career.
