A joint venture between the corporate Turners & Growers and
Riwaka growers the Inglis family is being watched as an example of
apple industry consolidation, reports Laura Basham. ----------------
---- T he banter around the board table in the office at Inglis
Horticulture in Riwaka is jovial.
A lot of ribbing is going on between the six directors about
egos.
It's a time to relax; the fruit is picked for this season - but
not all packed yet. There are 240,000 cartons in total, making it
the first significant crop since this joint venture was established
three years ago.
The venture has big plans. Next year it is budgeted to grow and
