Take a pleasant stroll among mature trees along the southern
fringes of the Ardress Estate in Co Armagh, once a farmer's home but
added to over the years and remodelled in Georgian times.
The Ladies' Mile runs in a semi-circular route, lined with trees
that were mostly planted about 150 to 200 years ago and ranging from
the usual native species such as oak, ash and elm to more exotic
species such as beech, lime, sycamore and horse chestnut.
Ardress is only four miles from The Argory, which was built in
the 1820s on a hill and has wonderful views over the gardens and 320-
acre wooded riverside estate. This former home of the MacGeough-
