The Bishop of Peterborough, the Rt Rev Ian Cundy, has died after
collapsing while on his way to visit family in the West Country.
He collapsed on Thursday and was taken by ambulance to Swindon
general hospital, but staff were unable to save him. His wife, Jo,
was with him.
Bishop Ian, 64, who was educated at Monkton Combe School, Bath,
Trinity College, Cambridge and Trinity theological college, Bristol,
was suffering from cancer of the lung cavity which had been
diagnosed in October, 2007. He had undergone chemotherapy but had
heard within the last week that the cancer had spread significantly.
He had announced that he would take early retirement in July of
this year because of his illness. ...
