SAN LEANDRO -- San Leandro Hospital could close as soon as Sept.
30, with its medical, surgical and emergency room services
transformed into a 50-bed acute rehabilitation center operated by
Alameda County.
Under the proposal, described in a memo dated Thursday, the
county would buy or lease the hospital at East 14th Street and 138th
Avenue, and eventually use it to house the county's acute
rehabilitation ward, which operates at Fairmont Hospital in the San
Leandro foothills.
The proposals and financial options are the gist of the eight-
page memo, which spells out the content of until-now confidential
negotiations between the county and Sutter Health's Eden Medical
Center of Castro Valley, ...
