FOSTER CITY -- On any given day, the Peninsula Jewish Community
Center teems with activity.
Members often spend an hour inside its fitness center or doing
laps at the pool, while others take advantage of classes -- some
dedicated to Jewish life.
With approximately 10,000 center and community members, the
center has nearly 60 years of history that began in a small home in
Burlingame.
Growth prompted a move to San Carlos, Belmont, and finally to its
5-year-old home base at 800 Foster City Blvd.
Its 60th anniversary is on Sunday.
Now, the board of directors has set its sights on expansion by
building a Cultural Arts Center on the 12-acre campus.
