Lori Schneider intends to push the limits of her physical life by climbing through the "death zone" atop the world's tallest mountain, a decade after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Climbing mountains restored Schneider's spirit after that difficult time, and she is now poised to reach the peak of Mount Everest and complete her dream to scale the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on all seven continents.

She called on a satellite phone Wednesday morning from a lodge in the village of Pheriche, a rest stop at roughly 14,500 feet of elevation.
